Alaska 2010 - Mt. McKinley and Scenery

While spending 5 days in Denali National Park we were able to take tons of beautiful scenery photos. Rainbows and even both peaks of the mountain itself. All images are available at my web store in very high quality. Click on the photos here for slightly higher quality.

Alaska 2010 - Wolves

My main goal in travelling to Alaska this year was to see wolves in the wild. Through the help of a new friend (a park ranger and fantastic photographer), I knew where to look. The first few days in the park, my wife and I saw the Grant Creek Pack. All nine puppies were playing in a field with the alpha female. It was magical... and unfortunately far away in a downpour... so no quality photos. E-mail me if you would like to see the low quality photos (I'm not going to try to sell them). On our last day in the park, we were driving the park road around 9:30 pm. when the pictured wolves crossed the road in front of us. The grey wolf in the brush is the alpha male. The grey/brown wolf on the road and in the brush is the alpha female. Both wolves are from the Nenana River Pack. It was amazing to be so close to these magnificient animals. Even though it was rainy and getting dark, I was able to get some nice photos of both animals. Click on the photos for higher quality images (You can purchase VERY high quality images at my web store). Note: The wolves are wearing radio collars... the park biologists are able to monitor their travels in an effort to learn more about them.

Alaska 2010 - Denali Moose and Sheep

While travelling through Denali, we saw tons of wildlife close-up. Click on the photos for higher quality photos (although no where near as high quality as you can purchase at our web store).

Alaska 2010 - Katmai Sow and Cubs

We captured this Grizzly Bear Sow teaching her cubs how to fish. It was amazing to watch. It almost seemed like she was talking to them as they fished. Unfortunately, they didn't catch anything for the 3 hours that we watched them. We talked with a park ranger... this sow is very unique. Her cubs are 3 1/2 years old, and she has not chased them off yet. Typically sows only raise their cubs for 2 years before sending them out into the real world. Click on photos for higher quality (although greatly diminished from what you can purchase at our web store).

Alaska 2010 - Katmai Bears

On our recent overnight trip to the Katmai Wilderness in Alaska, we caught tons of great photos of Alaskan Brown Bears (Grizzly Bears). After sorting through the 2000 photos we took in Alaska, we ended up with around 365 high (poster) quality photos. All of these photos can be viewed and purchased at our web store. Click on each of the photos on this page for a higher quality image (although greatly reduced quality for this blog from what you can purchase).
